For Sake of Life
The Youth Against War Project
We want no more war.
We want no more landmines.
We want no more mine victims.
We promise to work for peace in our world.
These four sentences constitute the
Youth Against War Treaty.
They are a concrete commitment of youth from around the world to take
concrete steps to create a more peaceful world.
The SCC joins thousands of youth around the world in supporting the
Youth Against War Treaty.
Support
Song Kosal
and
Mines Action Canada
and help promote a world
without landmines mines: in the ground or in our hearts.
The Saskatoon Children's Choir is initiating a series of activities to
support the Youth Against War Treaty.
-
All concerts and performances of the SCC include repertoire
from around the world which address, challenge, inspire and
cultivate issues related to nonviolence for children
-
The SCC collected 950 signatures to the Youth Against War
Treaty. On 11 March, 2001 these were included in the over
350,000 signatures from youth around the world and presented
to the US government in Washington DC. The signatures were a
plea to President Bush to join the Mine Ban Treaty and help to
rid the world of mines.
-
One dollar from each ticket sold for the SCC spring concert
Seeds of the Spirit ~ Songs of Freedom
will be used to support mine affected communities in Cambodia.
-
Based on the Cambodian bookmarks which depict the
commitment of Song Kosal to a world where peace grows like a
flower, the SCC has designed and distributes bookmarks to
encourage all young people to remember victims of mines and
to work for peace.
-
The SCC encourages its members and supporters to
communicate with the Honourable John Manley, Minister of
Foreign Affairs and Trade, Government of Canada, Ottawa. The
SCC too will gather signatures to support their letter to Mr
Manley. They will applaud the leadership of the Canadian
government in creating the Mine Ban Treaty and insist that
Canadians expect continued commitment and leadership from
him personally and his office to the implementation of the treaty
until the final goal is reached: a world without mines.
