This is it ... Contemporary Choral Music

This morning our choristers competed in their first international competition. They were one of twelve competing choirs. The choirs were of all different types and ages.

Our choristers performed Mi'kmaq Honour Song and Tjak!. Simply put, they performed beautifully and well pleased our Artistic Director and the audience. We will find out Saturday what the judges thought. The choristers then listened to the rest of the competitors. The music was incredible! I believe they were impressed by the range of music, professionalism and style they saw.

After listening the the rest of the competition the choir proceeded to the staging area for lunch. There they continued to make new friends and exchange pins. Choristers are creating quite a collection of pins from around the world. Our girl choristers were quite interested in testing their french with the boys choir from Montreal.

The first Common Song rehearsal was then called. A sea of choristers practiced songs that they will sing as a "Mass Choir" at the closing Saturday Night.

After Common Song Rehearsal the choir proceeded by bus to the home of David James, our choir host, and his wife Mary. At their magnificent home on the ocean the choristers swam, played ball and eventually dined on hamburgers, hotdogs, icecream and cookies. We then watched a video recording from their morning performance. The choir then thanked our hosts with the song "A Blessing".

Clancy Joe or Fugitive Pete? ... A Ghost Story by "The Girls" of Room 208

It all happened on a stormy Tuesday Night. We were all tucked in by the glow of our new teddy bear night light, chatting and judging all the cute boys we had just stumbled upon during the day. Kendra emerged from the bathroom, turned out the bathroom light, and came to bed. For the first time in hours, the room was silent. All of a sudden, and at the same time, both the light and the fan clicked on in the bathroom. We were scared! We had the curling irons ready for attack but no one or thing came.

Our conclusion: Either Clancy Joe or Fugitve Pete had sent their spirit to our room.
