Makes Me Happy!

Today was the competition between the Children's Choirs. Each choir sings 3 selections. The "Kyrie" from Missa Brevis is required. The other two pieces must be a traditional folk song and an original composition from a native author of the choirs country. In addition to "Kyrie" the choir sang "When I Set Out for Lyonesse" and "Niska Banja".

We were the first of the 10 competing choirs. The choir sang with great energy, enthusiasm, and skill. It was clearly one of the best performances the choir has given to date. The audience clapped with great enthusiasm after all the selections will sung. We will find out Friday what the judges thought.

The Choristers then listened to the rest of the performances. It was interesting to see how each choir interpreted "Kyrie". No two sounded the same.

After lunch and Common Song Rehearsal, the choir proceeded to the Town Centre Mall, where they performed with the Belilios Public School Choir from Hong Kong. Our choir sang first followed by the Belilios choristers. In between, both choirs sang "Hymn to Freedom" under the direction of Phoebe. It was very moving to see young boys and girls who live about as far away as you can get from each other united in song.
