Travelling Choristers from Ms. Voigts' Guide to Raising Excruciatingly Correct Choristers
Choristers and parents should ensure that they are familiar with the following
behaviour guidelines.
-
Choristers should remember that at all times they are representing the choir, the city of Saskatoon and themselves.
This means recognizing the importance of the image we present to others.
The Saskatoon Children's Choir members have earned a reputation for their ability to model exemplary rehearsal practices.
-
Choir members should demonstrate a positive attitude in spirit and body posture during all rehearsals and activities.
Complaining diminishes us all and makes it very difficult for the group to put their full efforts into the work that is to be done at rehearsal.
It is in extremely bad taste to chat during a practice or performance.
-
Everyone on tour is expected to model "company manners" and extend their finest selves to each other.
-
Chaperones are working very hard to ensure that we have a safe, fun, and rewarding trip.
Please do your best to cooperate with their requests promptly and cheerfully.
Compliment them a lot.
-
This is a performance tour and not a sight-seeing excursion.
This means that singers need their sleep, good nutrition and a lot of nuturing.
Please tactfully alert your group leader or the conductor if you are experiencing a problem.
We will do our best to assist you.
-
Choristers should remember that we there is a "host" choir or organization.
The hosts have spent many hours preparing for a festival and deserve our enthusiatic cooperation.
-
Running, loud talking, or horseplay, are inappropriate behaviours at the rehearsal/performance venues.
Choristers are encouraged to come up with quiet activities to entertain themselves during "wait time" backstage.
-
All choristers must stay with the group at all times.
It is not appropriate to initiate independent sight seeing excursions.
We want to be sure that all our choristers are in their places and ready to sing promptly after breaks.
This important corutesy is very much appreciated bythe guest conductor and organizers.
-
In the quiet times during rehearsal, our choristers should contemplate on how terrific they are and how proud their conductor is to be associated with them.
-
Work hard, sing well, feed your soul, and have fun!
