Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! No previous experience is needed. Singers should be able to match pitch, enjoy singing, and be ready to learn. For those auditioning directly for Concert Choir, music reading is an asset, but not a requirement. 

Each choir has different needs and therefore different numbers! Our preparatory choir is the smallest, averaging about 24 choristers each year. A smaller group at this age is best for their growth and development. Our Apprentice and Concert Choirs range from 32 - 55 choristers depending on the year! And our Alumni Choir grows each year! 

Specific rehearsal days are listed under each choir. Usually we have two home concerts a year: late November/early December, and Mid-April. Other performance opportunities are spread throughout the year. The Concert Choir also presents a farewell concert before leaving for any tour, usually at the end of June.

Each choir learns musical, vocal, and personal skills, which are built in a progression through the choirs. In addition to musical excellence, and social development, our rehearsals are a lot of fun, full of joyful music and games! 

None! Just bring yourself, and we’ll provide the rest. Access to the internet and a computer is helpful for practicing outside of rehearsals. 

Choir begins in September, and runs until mid-April. Concert Choir extends their season on tour years, until the end of June.

Most people are shocked when they leave their first SCC performance. We know the power of our choristers and can’t wait for you to discover it too. At our home concerts, all of our choirs will perform individually and often, together with more than 140 voices on one stage! We often have professional guest musicians performing with the choir too!
